A brighter day ahead as JVE presents
Glories & Gleams
May 23
What better way to celebrate a Saturday evening in late May than immersed in the soaring harmonies of light and hope? Vancouver’s Jubilate Vocal Ensemble is thrilled to present Glories & Gleams, a stirring collection of choral arrangements spanning a gamut of genres: from lively pop pieces by British balladeers Elton John, Ed Sheeran and young phenom Jacob Collier to Canadian and Scottish folk songs – and two pieces by choral superstar Eric Whitacre. The concert title is plucked from the poetry of Marjorie Pickthall’s After the Wind, which is hauntingly set to music by composer Nicholas Ryan Kelly. Compiled and directed by JVE Conductor John R. Williams, the free-ranging program is sure to engage the ears and hearts of music lovers of all ages and tastes.
Glories & Gleams will be performed once only – at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 at Pacific Spirit United Church, 2195 West 45th Ave. in Vancouver. Adjacent street parking is ample and free.
