Director

Eldon McBride received his early formal music training in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He completed an ARCT degree in piano performance in 1982 and a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree at Canadian Bible College in Regina in 1986. After moving to the city of Toronto, he worked in a variety of music fields for over twenty years. He served as a ballet accompanist at the London School of Dance in Scarborough, vocal accompanist for Calbes Voice Studio in Mississauga, chorus master and accompanist for Mississauga City Centre Opera, Director of Music Ministries at Rexdale Alliance Church, and personal assistant to Canadian operatic tenor, Ben Heppner. He maintained an active schedule as an accompanist, performing on national radio and television and in concerts in Canada, the USA, Israel and the Caribbean with noted Canadian singers such as Ben Heppner, Gary Relyea, Mark Dubois and Eleanor Calbes.

He enjoyed nine years as music director of the worship-leading choir, Celebration of Praise, and assisted in the development of the classical and jazz division of the Artist Associates program at World Vision Canada.  In 2008, Eldon relocated to Surrey, BC where he served for eight years as the Associate Worship & Arts Pastor at Peace Portal Alliance Church.

While taking on the role of Interim Musical Director of Jubilate, Eldon is simultaneously the Artistic Director and Conductor of Frontline Voices, a new community choir in Surrey. He also remains active as a vocal accompanist in the Lower Mainland area, and Jubilate has taken advantage of his exceptional skills in several past concerts! Eldon is an experienced and multi-talented musician our choir is extremely grateful to have at the helm.
